US Coast Guard - Sound Developer Removal
Sound Developer Being Raised from the Seafloor
We were contracted by the United States Coast Guard to remove the Sound Developer, which in 2009 sank at her mooring in Cordova Harbor, AK. A total of 31 lift bags were used to raise the vessel: 24 - 9 ton; 5 - five ton and 2 - twenty two ton bags. Once afloat, it was dragged out of the harbor to the other end of the marina onto a tideland area. This location was identified for the removal of hazardous materials and upland disposal of the vessel.
To facilitate the project, the DSV Sand Island was brought to the site to support dive operations and provide accommodations for the crew.
Project Details
Secure and raise vessel from seafloor, transport to adjacent tideland for proper disposal.
